The Importance Of Foods To Fight Cold Sores

Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days I GUARANTEED Click Here to Know More

After you've been infected, it?s not too difficult to reduce the frequency of your cold sore outbreaks. Eat healthily to give your immune system its optimum chance of fighting back. Restrict your intake of foods rich in arginine. These are things such as seeds, chocolate, grain cereals, peas, gelatine, beer, cashews and peanuts. Arginine is an amino acid which occurs naturally and is needed by the cold sore virus to grow. Therefore if you can prevent yourself from taking in too many nutrients containing arginine you will go a long way in reducing the incidence of outbreaks of cold sores.

At the other end of the scale is another amino acid called lysine. However lysine doesn't encourage cold sores like arginine does; lysine seems to stifle them. Some people have found that taking a dose of 1,000 mg of lysine per day at the start of a cold sore outbreak does appear to contain the virus. This should then be followed up by further doses three times a day for several days to get maximum impact.

Try a whole foods diet that includes plenty of fiber and foods producing alkali, but excludes sugar and refined foods. This can help prevent further attacks. Eat high quality foods rich in nutrients such as fresh organic vegetables. Since people generally don?t take the recommended daily intake of minerals and vitamins, it would be strongly advised, particularly during a cold sore outbreak, to take vitamin supplements.

Caffeine, contained in either food or drinks, can make some people more prone to cold sore outbreaks than others. The type of things to be very wary of include coffee, chocolate and some cold soft drinks. Try also to avoid foods containing a lot of salt; they can irritate the cold sores and make them a lot worse than before. In fact it would certainly be a good idea to completely cut out salty foods from your diet until the cold sores have cleared up. Salty foods can irritate your cold sores and cause them to become extremely painful.

Avoid smoking and keep your consumption of alcohol to an absolute minimum. But remember, it is not only the types of food you eat that it is important but also keep a close eye on your general health levels, particularly stress levels.

>>  Dont Even Think Of Trying Other Prodicts untill You Read This <<

Many natural remedies are readily available for cold sores. There have been many cases where they have been extremely effective in not only treating the symptoms but also the length and severity of the cold sore outbreak. However, one very important caveat ? before starting to use one of these natural remedies it is absolutely vital that you discuss this first with your doctor. If you are currently taking prescriptive medicine, there may be a conflict which could exacerbate the problem. Please check with your doctor first!

Now having said that, do not be surprised if he or she is 100% behind your decision to try a natural alternative ? indeed many doctors will advise their patients to try them as a first course of action before that has even occurred to the unfortunate sufferer themselves. With the massive expansion of the internet over the last few years, there is a huge amount of information exchange going on that just wasn?t there before.

In fact data studies have been made which conclude that natural remedies can cut the time period of suffering cold sores by an amazing 79%. Not only that, they can also avert the likelihood of further outbreaks in the future. The natural remedies keep the virus indefinitely inactive rather than killing it off outright. So, having established that there is no shortage of successful home remedies that will rapidly assist you in curing your cold sore outbreak, let?s list just 10 of them.

1) Tea Bags applied directly to the sore
2) Reishi mushrooms in supplement or powder form
3) Resveratrol cream (a natural compound from red grapes)
4) Astragalus ? a popular herbal tonic originating from Chinese medicine
5) Lemon Balm cream
6) Wakame - a type of seaweed popular in Japan
7) Echinacea ? or purple coneflower common to North America
8) Rhubarb and Sage cream
9) Bee Propolis ? as the name suggests it is collected by bees
10) Lysine in supplement form (an essential amino acid)

You should be able to find most of the above from any good health food store. The above list is by no means conclusive, and results will vary from person to person. Some will work better than others, some may have no effect at all. However, various studies have shown significant success with them, hence their inclusion here.

Also potential new herbal remedies are being constantly tested so it is always worthwhile to keep up with the latest developments.

Cold Sore Care - How to Lessen Cold Sore Swelling Quickly

Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days I GUARANTEED Click Here to Know More

>>  Dont Even Think Of Trying Other Prodicts untill You Read This <<

Cold sores or fever blisters can be annoying, not to mention unsightly. Such sores are the products of the herpes simplex virus. They will begin as red dots, then start puffing out, all itchy and tingling and cold sore swelling will take place. As the blister gathers moisture and water, it gets larger, and even more embarrassingly conspicuous. Cold sores actually come from any contact of the herpes simplex virus with your mouth, perhaps early in your childhood. The virus picked out a host cell and moved into it. The cell, perhaps a nerve, then suffered to become the puppet of the virus, as the viral DNA gave orders to the host to produce more of the herpes simplex virus.

As cold sore swelling takes place, the numbers grow, the virus multiplies, and the cold sores replicate. Such cold sores can turn up wherever they wish in your body, wherever their host cells lead them. If you have ever been disturbed and aggravated by a cold sore, you know how irritating cold sore swelling can be, and how ashamed you can feel whenever cold sores suddenly choose to wreak havoc. You might also have been tempted to prick it or pop it. Such methods, however, are dangerous, and can lead to cold sore swelling and more infections.

Here are a few methods you can use to lower cold sore swelling and have it disappear quickly. For more tips, consult with your doctor and find ways by which you can prevent even more cold sores from bugging you in the future.

- Because cold sores like moisture and dirt and need more water and bacteria to keep swelling, they can fade away if they are kept dry and clean. Wash the area around the cold sore regularly and pat it dry to lessen cold sore swelling.

- Buy a new toothbrush to prevent cold sore swelling and recurrence. Toothbrushes can incubate such cold sore-causing viruses for days at a time, so you can be infected once again after your last cold sore heals. Studies have shown that patients with cold sores were less likely to get them again if they replaced their toothbrushes after they discovered that they had a cold sore, and then after the cold sore healed.

Not only do toothbrushes make good homes for the cold sore-causing virus, so do toothpaste tubes. As you stick the bristles of your toothbrush against the toothpaste tube opening, you transfer the herpes simplex virus onto the toothpaste tube, where the virus can incubate for quite a while. To prevent this from happening, you can buy smaller toothpaste tubes, or avoid sticking your toothbrush bristles against the opening of the toothpaste tube.

- Herpes simplex thrives in moist conditions, so if you keep your toothbrush exposed in your bathroom, chances are you will get cold sores again and again and cold sore swelling will not be healed. Take your toothbrush out of the bathroom, and wash it before and after you use it.

- Shield the sore with petroleum jelly to avoid cold sore swelling. Use a cotton swab to apply the petroleum jelly onto the cold sore, and throw the swab away immediately.

- According to research, zinc can heal cold sore swelling quickly. Ask for tubes of zinc sulfate or zinc gluconate at your local pharmacy or health food store the minute you feel the familiar tingling of a cold sore.

- Some studies also show that the amino acid lysine can help heal cold sore swelling quickly. Supplement your diet with as much as three thousand additional milligrams of lysine by drinking supplements, or eating potatoes or dairy products to heal cold sore swelling. Be careful, however: lysine can interfere with infant development and growth, so if you are pregnant or nursing, you need to find other ways to treat your cold sores. If you can have the lysine-rich diet, however, stay away from arginine-rich foodstuffs such as sodas, peanuts, chocolates, grains, beer, and cashews. Herpes simplex relies on arginine to multiply.

Although you can lessen cold sore swelling and it naturally disappears after a few weeks, it is still best to find the best permanent treatment for cold sore. Cold sore is not only contagious but it also has high tendencies to come back on the same spot. It is important to stop cold sore at the root of the problem, instead of treating cold sore swelling or just masking the symptoms.

Did you know that you can totally eliminate your cold sores in 3 days? You will never have to worry about having serious cold sore swelling and recurrence problem again. Cold Sores and Herpes Simplex Diagnosis

Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days I GUARANTEED Click Here to Know More

>>  Dont Even Think Of Trying Other Prodicts untill You Read This <<

Herpes Simplex virus comes from the Herpes Virus Family, called Herpesviridae of which two basic strains, notably HSV-1 & HSV-2 causes the infection. These are also known as Human Herpes Virus-1 and Human Herpes Virus ? 2 (HHV-1 & HHV-2). The infections are characterized by painful blisters filled with translucent fluids that appear on the skin or mucous membranes like the mouth or lips or on the genitals. There is nothing simple either about the HSV-1 or HSV-2 excepting that they prefer to become lifelong partners of the host on whose nerve cells they are permanently engrossed. From the outside, these blisters resemble those seen in chickenpox, the handiwork of another subfamily, VZV known as Herpes Virus-3 or HHV-3.

The infection may start with kissing (direct contact with lips) or through sexual intercourse (genital contact) when HSV sores are present or immediately before they appear, i.e. the Shedding stage. However, after the initial or primary stage of the infection, the virus goes into hibernation, remaining dormant within the cell bodies of nerves, innervating the area of original outbreak. After sometime the reactivation starts, when the virus is transported outwardly through the cell?s axon to the skin. And that?s when the blisters are seen. Though the infection is not fatal to adults, but yet if they are present during childbirth may lead to severe complications and even the sad death of the infant.

The primary symptoms of herpes simplex is burning, tingling or itching sensations near the edges of the lips or nose. This is known as the Prodromal stage. Thereafter, small, reddened spots develop in the irritated areas. And then comes the chickenpox-like blisters that are filled with fluid that often rupture, releasing a sticky serum-like fluid that rapidly crusts.

The strapping tendency of the virus to remain dormant within the nerve cells for indefinite periods gives it the characteristics of chronic nature. To begin with, none of the known antibiotics have any effect on viruses that come and go on their own and secondly, it becomes extremely difficult to dislodge them from the nerve cells where they are permanently lodged. However, the initial outbreaks after the exposure to HSV are more severe, compared to later episodes, since by then the body gets a chance to produce its own antibodies. Beware! The first outbreak often carries the risk of developing meningitis.

When an HSV infection appears on the lips in the form of a blister or sore, it is commonly called a ?cold sore? or ?fever blister?. However, it should never be mixed up with ?canker sore? because canker sores are not caused by the HSV virus.

Yes, it is. Especially when the carrier is producing and/or releasing, i.e. ?shedding? during an outbreak. Besides, like contact dermatisis, the disease can spread by physical contact during outbreaks. The normal human tendency of touching a cold sore and repeating the procedure on other spots on the face or neck may trigger further outbreaks. Touching an eye after the finger is wet with the fluid coming out of an open sore is extremely dangerous as it may affect the cornea and may cause blindness.

Cold Sore Prevention - Steps To Understand And Minimize Outbreaks

Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days I GUARANTEED Click Here to Know More

>>  Dont Even Think Of Trying Other Prodicts untill You Read This <<

Do you suffer from painful cold sore outbreaks? For many of us, the answer is yes! Because they are caused by a virus, once you experience one, future outbreaks are inevitable. So what can I do to cure this virus? The truth is, there are no miracle cures! The good news is, learning to understand cold sores can help you minimize cold sore outbreaks. This article will shed light on how you got the virus, and steps you can take for preventing cold sores.

A cold sore is nothing more than an oral form of herpes. They are blisters that normally show up on or around the lips. Some people even get them inside their mouth! Cold sores are sometimes very painful, and generally have a duration of 7 to 10 days. The virus that causes them is called herpes simplex virus (type 1). Once exposed to this virus, it lies dormant in nerve cells behind your ears. It then rears it's ugly head from time to time. Most of us get HSV-1 by kissing or sharing eating utensils with an infected person. Of all the people who have HSV-1, only about one-third will go on to develop cold sores.

So now that I have the virus, How do I prevent or minimize cold sore outbreaks? Understanding cold sores leads to better prevention. Here are some things you can do:

Start by focusing on your immune system. If your immune system gets worn down, outbreaks can become more frequent. So how go I strengthen my immune system? Your diet, it is very important that you have good nutrition going in your body. If you have a weak immune system, consider taking supplements to boost it.

Another trigger for cold sores is stress. Try to avoid stress in your life. I know that's a hard one! But minimize stress as much as you can.

Get proper rest. Your body needs rest to recover. Poor nutrition, stress, and lack of sleep will wear down your immune system.

Exposure to sunlight. For some people, the UV rays from the sun trigger cold sore outbreaks. If your going to be out in the sun, use a lip moisturizer with a sunblock in it.

Cold sore prevention, and minimizing cold sore outbreaks is quite possible. Sure the virus won't go away, but understanding cold sores and taking care of your immune system will go a long way!

I hope you find this information helpful. Cold Sores can be very embarrassing! If you have further questions about cold sores, and would like to know more, see here: http://www.coldsoresfaq.blogspot.com

How many times have you felt that tingling feeling on the side of your lip, and knew what was coming? That's right, another cold sore is forming.

So, you wait for the sore to turn red and start to puff out and then water fills it out even more. Yikes, what a miserable feeling. Yet for those who suffer from the herpes simplex virus, that is reality.

While the herpes simplex virus stays dormant most of the time, there will always be those times when a breakout occurs. So, what can you do? Is there a cold sore remedy that will help? Here's a look at some of the more popular ones:

Zinc - Several studies have shown that a water-based zinc solution will speed up the healing time of cold sores. Zinc gluconate is available at most any health store.

Toothbrush - That's right, your tooth brush can play a role with cold sores. When you first get a cold sore, replace your toothbrush. When the sore is gone, replace your tooth brush again.

Keep the sun off - All doctors agree that avoiding exposure to the sun for long periods of time will help prevent cold sores.

Lysine - Studies have been ongoing that tend to show lysine supplements reduce the numbers of cold sore outbreaks. By adding 2,000 mg of lysine to your daily diet could dramatically help in lowering your risk.

Stress - The number one reason for cold sores is stress. If you'll reduce the stress in your everyday life, you'll also reduce the number of cold sore outbreaks.

These are just a few cold sore remedy tips that may provide some relief in getting these nasty sores from forming.

Cold Sore Medicine Review - Abreva

Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days I GUARANTEED Click Here to Know More

>>  Dont Even Think Of Trying Other Prodicts untill You Read This <<

You can find Abreva Cold Sore Treatment over-the-counter at most any pharmacy aisle in any store. Abreva is approved by the FDA and says it will reduce the healing time for a cold sore or fever blister. The question is, does it work? We will take a look in a minute.

The Abreva product comes in a relatively tiny 2 gram tube. You can find it retailing for approximately $15 in all stores, or through the Internet.

In reading the directions, it states that you should put the medicine directly on the area where you feel the cold sore coming on. You're to do this 5 times throughout the day. Abreva says that the key is to begin treatment before the cold sore actually breaks out.

As someone who has cold sores a couple of times during the year, I know how tough they can be to deal with, especially after breaking out. So, I'm always looking for a cold sore medicine that works. With that said, here is my review of Abreva.

1. I found myself having some trouble getting the package open. There is no way to get it open without scissors. Then, when you do get to it, the tube is very tiny, leaving you to wonder if there is anything in it.

2. I found that Abreva took almost a week to take away my pain, not a few days that the product claims. I must say, prescription cold sore medicine is much faster working.

3. Abreva Cold Sore Treatment didn't eliminate my cold sore quickly. It did work, but not as well as other cold sore medications I've used in the past, and nowhere near as fast as a prescription.

4. I was out of Abreva after only 10 days of use. I used it exactly as the directions stated, but the tube didn't last long. I was a little disappointed to say the least.

I have talked with others who have had good luck with Abreva, but I'm not in that group. I can't give Abreva a high rating compared to other cold sore medicines available.

Teach Your Kids How To Avoid Catching Cold Sores

Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days I GUARANTEED Click Here to Know More

>>  Dont Even Think Of Trying Other Prodicts untill You Read This <<

The best way to prevent your children from getting cold sores (or fever blisters) is to minimize any close personal contact with a person who has one.

First, begin by teaching your child at an early age not to kiss others on the mouth and not to eat or drink after others. If your child is old enough to use lip balms, tell them not to ever use someone else's lip balm.

Second, begin to teach them what a cold sore is by showing them one. If it's on a passer by, you will naturally want to be discrete. If you or a family member have one, it will be easier to talk about if the child has questions. You can simply tell your child that's what a cold sore looks like. They are contagious so you should never drink after someone or kiss anyone who has one. And if you have one, it is easier to get another one, so just don't drink or eat after anyone or use anyone else's lip balm. The kissing talk can probably come later. The herpes simplex one virus is not the same virus that causes genital herpes. Herpes simplex two is associated with genital herpes. It is important, however, to let adolescents know that you can have a genital outbreak of herpes simplex one if that area comes in contact with an affected person, and vice versa.

Third, if your child is old enough, explain that the germ that causes cold sores is called herpes simplex one. It lives in saliva, or spit. So try not to get coughed or sneezed upon by someone who has a cold sore.

It's important to remember that almost 90 percent of people over age 30 have tested positive for exposure to the herpes simplex one virus at some time in their lives. Having a cold sore may be painful and unsightly, but it is not the end of the world. Explaining that to a child who has one - especially a teenager - may not be so easy.

If your child does get a cold sore, talk with your pharmacist about age appropriate treatment to relieve the pain and diminish the sore itself. It will help the child to decrease the intake of salty foods or acidic fruits and juices, like orange juice, during the time he or she has the cold sore. As with any sore, salt and acid tend to burn the sore. There are a number of home remedies for cold sores. Talk with your doctor or pharmacist to see if they are appropriate for your child. Some herbal remedies contain elements that might prove to be toxins if served in the wrong amount to children.

Remind your child that the cold sore will probably go away on its own in two or three days. Like any virus, they just have to work their way out of our system. Help your child diminish the symptoms or appearance of the sore the best you can.

Get Rid Of A Cold Sore

Cold Sore Freedom In 3 Days I GUARANTEED Click Here to Know More

>>  Dont Even Think Of Trying Other Prodicts untill You Read This <<

Getting a cold sore can be a most unpleasant experience. And if you are one of the over 60 million people who develop a cold sore each and every year, you already know that. Why do people get a cold sore, and what can be done when a cold sore appears? Here is a quick cold sore Q & A to give you some answers to these questions and many others.

What Causes A Cold Sore?

There are many reasons why you can get a cold sore. One of the biggest ones is due to stress. If you are going through a very stressful time in your life, your chances of getting a cold sore are greatly increased. Why? Because your immunity is low due to the stress. Being out in to much sunlight can be a big cause. Other triggers include illness, fevers, and believe it or not, even eating too much chocolate can cause a cold sore to break out.

Is A Cold Sore Contagious?

Cold sores are extremely contagious. You should avoid kissing anyone when you have a cold sore. You will also want to avoid sharing glasses, utensils, toothbrushes, and towels.

How Long Do Cold Sores Last?

While there is no set length of time, cold sores can last up to 2 weeks. If you can start treating it very early in the beginning you may be able to reduce the length of time significantly. In many cases it can be only 3-5 days in duration. The key is treating it as soon as you notice something is not right and you start noticing some discomfort.

What Is The Difference Between A Canker Sore And A Cold Sore?

A canker sore appears on the inside of your mouth or gums and is caused by bacteria. A cold sore is caused by a virus and will most likely always appear on the outside of your mouth. There are rare times when a cold sore will form on the roof of your mouth.

Is There Anything That Will Get Rid Of A Cold Sore?

While there is no cure to ever preventing a cold sore from forming, there are products available that will dramatically help reduce the pain and help heal the cold sore much faster. Many times you can be healed in as little as 4-5 days. (You can go to our website for more details.) You can also purchase medication from any pharmacy with a doctors prescripition. Most of the over the counter products may help in a small way, but unfortunately, many are simply ineffective.
